As a conclusion, the cortical neuronal reorganization findings due to deafferantiation in amputated or nonamputated diabetic patients with peripheric neuropathy start earlier than the amputation itself. In opposite to traumatic amputations and acute nerve injuries; no statistically significant cortical neuronal activation on fMRG was found.1, 2, 13
