Deterioration of mental status 5 days after Rt MCA infarct:
Ischemic infarcts may develop hemorrhagic transformation after
a few days leading to worsening of neurological status. This is
more common after thrombolysis, in large infarcts & embolic
infarcts. This occurs due to reperfusion in the severely damaged tissue w/ breakdown
of blood brain barrier.
